Payment Methods-eCheck, Discover, MasterCard and Visa are accepted for Internet transactions and in office transactions for motor vehicle and property tax. Driver License takes a limited number of credit/debit card transactions.
There is a $30.00 returned check fee for any returned check, this included internet and credit/debit card payments
Vehicle Renewals:
If your vehicle registration is delinquent, the vehicle may not qualify for online renewal. Half year license and apportioned vehicles are not eligible for online renewal at this time.
If you have a special plate or a plate that requires you to present us with additonal documentation then you will not be able to renew online you must come into the office to renew your vehicle(s).
Property Taxes:
All Tax Sale Redemptions have to be processed in the Treasurer’s Office please contact us at 641-932-5011 for assistance. Advance property tax payments are allowed and can be made by mail or in the Treasurer’s Office please contact us at the above listed number for assistance.
Effective immediately there shall be a $2.00 per parcel per year charge for any tax searches for anyone other than the title holder of record or contract holder of record.
445.23 Statement of taxes due.
Upon request, the county treasurer shall state in writing the full amount of taxes against a parcel, all sales for unpaid taxes, and the amount needed to redeem the parcel, if redeemable. If the person requesting the statement is not the titleholder of record or contract holder of record of the parcel, that person shall pay a fee at the rate of two dollars per parcel for each year for which information is requested, and the money shall be deposited in the county general fund.

2013 TAX SALE INFORMATION
The 2013 Tax Sale will be held June 17th, 2013 in the office of County Treasurer. The 'Registration of Tax Sale Buyer or Assignee' form, W-9 form and 'Authorization to Represent Bidder' form, if applicable, must be properly completed and returned to our office on or before NOON, Friday, June 14, 2013, to be an eligible bidder at the Tax Sale on Monday, June 17th. BIDDERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER THE DAY OF THE SALE.
To prevent parcels from being offered the day of the Tax Sale, the taxpayer shall pay the amount owed prior to 4:00 PM, Friday, June 14, 2013 in the office of Monroe County Treasurer. Payment in the office is to be made in the form of cash, cashier's check or money order effective June 1, 2013 thru Friday, June 14, 2013 . On-line payments shall be made prior to 11:59 PM, Sunday, June 16, 2013. Last day to pay to avoid publication is May 24, 2013.
The annual publication of delinquent taxes wil be published in the Monroe County News on June 4, 2013.

Driver License Changes
Driver's License Information: As of January 15, 2013, the 2005 Real ID Act will take effect in Iowa Driver's License stations. A Real ID Driver's License or ID Card is required to board a Federal regulated aircraft, Enter a Federal building that requires identification (such as a Social Security office) and to enter a nuclear power plant. Documents required to obtain a Real ID are: Certified US Birth Certificate or US Passport, Social Security Card and two (2) forms of Iowa address verification.
