Statewide Iowa scheduling and check-in system for DMV services
 
Why?  to save time (yours!) and create a more consistent experience across county services locations.
 
What doe it mean for you?  Beginning January 20,2026 customers will be able to:
Schedule appointments for any DMV services at any service station or county treasurers office in nearly 80 participating counties.  
See which locations have availability for the service you need, when you need it.
Receive appointment reminders and have the ability to reschedule or cancel online.
 
Check in kiosk in lobby.
 
To schedule an appointment, go to  https:/iowadot.gov/drivers-licenses-ids/schedule-appointment
 
(or you can call our office and we will help you)
 
If you are not a Mitchell County resident:
•  A $10 Convenience Fee will be added for issuance of a DL or ID.
•  Fee must be paid with cash, check, debit/credit card as a separate transaction.
•  Fee is waived if you pay property taxes to Mitchell County.

Motor Vehicle / Property Tax Office is open for WALK-INS - If you need to update your registration (get tags), transfer a vehicle into your name (Bill of sale required as of 1/1/2020), pay property taxes or get a person's with disabilities placard ....

Our office DOES NOT process vehicle transfers after 4:15 PM

Accepted On-Line Payment Methods-eCheck, Discover, MasterCard and VISA are accepted for Internet transactions - charges will apply.

Accepted In Office Payment Methods-eCheck, Discover, MasterCard, VISA, and PayPal - charges will apply.

You can now access the Assessor Property Information on each parcel from Step 3 of the property tax application.
 

Vehicle Renewals: 
Apportioned vehicles are not eligible for online renewal at this time. ( This is an enhancement that will be available in the future!!)

Escrow Taxes:
Arrangements can be made to have payments automatically deducted from your checking or savings account.  If interested please contact your bank or loan company.

MONTHYLY PAYMENTS CAN BE MADE FOR YOUR PROPERTY TAXES... just use the SETUP A SCHEDULE OPTION

  • Driver License Knowledge (Written) Testing: 8:00 - 3:15 / Monday - Friday BY APPOINTMENT
  • Car Drives: 9:00 - 2:00 / Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday - BY APPOINTMENT
  • Motorcycle Drives - 10:00 AM / Wednesday & Thursday  - BY APPOINTMENT & weather permitting.

My hope is this website, will make contacting our office easier and more convenient with access to information 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

We provide the following services from our office: Property tax Collection, Issuance of Vehicle Titles and Registrations, and Driver License Issuance.
