In addition to collecting property taxes for over 22,000 parcels, our office is also responsible for the issuance of vehicle titles and registrations, as well as the collection of all vehicle fees for the residents of Carroll County. The Carroll County Treasurer's Office also serves as an acceptance facility for U.S. Passport applications.

The goal of our office is to provide quality customer service through positive interactions between you, our customer, and our office staff.

I have been employed in the Treasurer's Office since 1999, and most recently served as Deputy Treasurer.  I was appointed Treasurer in January, 2014.

2016 Property Taxes

Tax bills for 2016 taxes were mailed on August 8, 2017.  The 2016 taxes are based on January 1, 2016 valuations and cover the period of July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.  The first half installment is payable September 2017 (delinquent on October 3, 2017).  The second half installment is payable March 2017 (delinquent April 3, 2018).


2017 Tax Sale Information

The 2017 Carroll County Tax Sale was held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 19, 2017 in the Carroll County Courthouse Lower Level Meeting Room.  Links to this year's "Terms & Conditions," the investors' tax sale list, and list of unsold tax sale parcels are below:

Pay Online:

Discover, Mastercard, Visa and e-Check are accepted for Internet Transactions.

When paying property taxes by parcel number please enter the 10-digit parcel number which appears in the bottom right corner of either payment stub. A $30 returned payment fee will be assessed on dishonored payments.  Online payments are accepted for past due taxes.  Tax sale redemptions can not be made online.

Vehicle renewals may be made online if you have a PIN number from a renewal notice mailed to you through the US Postal Service.  If you are required to show proof of SR 22 Insurance or have outstanding debts to the State of Iowa, you will not be eligible to renew online.  Half-year license, apportioned vehicles, and firefighter plates are not eligible for online renewal at this time.  A $30 returned payment fee will be assessed on dishonored payments.  Contact our office if you have any questions.

In Office Payments:

Cash, checks, debit cards, and credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discovery) are acceptable forms of payment in our office.  There is a convenience fee charged for using credit cards and debit cards. Please contact the Carroll County Treasurer's Office, 712-792-1200, for information regarding these applicable fees.  For your convenience we have a payment drop box located at the bottom of the steps on the north side of the courthouse.  Cash payments are NOT accepted in the drop box.

Motor Vehicle:  Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Property Taxes: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Driver's License: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.   (You must arrive and be checked in by 3:30 p.m.) 

Car drives by appointment only. 

Motorcycle drives are offered on Fridays at 9:00 AM, weather permitting.  You must call ahead to register for a motorcycle drive and to submit your name, phone number, and motorcycle size.  Drivers are required to wear a helmet, long pants, and shoes that completely cover the feet.  Proof of insurance is required for all bikes used.

All written tests must be passed before you will be scheduled for any type of a drive exam.

Passport applications are no longer accepted by the Treasurer's Office.  For passport assistance, please contact the Carroll County Environmental Health Department, 712-792-9532.

The Carroll County Courthouse is located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Highway 30 and Main Street in Carroll.


The Carroll County Courthouse is handicap accessible.  Enter the main door on the north side of the courthouse.  Proceed past the Treasurer's Office and to the left to access the elevator.
