IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Effective March 1, 2020 the Clay County Treasurer's Office will require customers to provide a Bill of Sale when transferring all vehicles and trailers between private parties.

MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION RENEWALS - You are not eligible to renew online unless you received a renewal notice that contained a PIN number.

All payments must possess an American Bank Association (ABA) routing number

We are unable to take payments by phone

December Truck Renewals - If your truck is licensed for 28 ton or more, you need to show your Federal Heavy Vehicle Use Tax payment or exemption filed with the IRS (2290).  We have the form in office or you can click the link below. Clay County Drivers License 

All drivers license transactions are by appointment only. Please call 712-262-2179 to book your appointment

8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday

Closed over the lunch hours from 11:15am- 12:45pm

Knowledge Test must be registered by 3:30 P.M.

Drive tests are Wednesday mornings

NEW LAW, EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2023

Effective August 1, 2023 - Any non resident of Clay County will be charged a $10 conveniece fee for issuance of a driver's license or ID card. Fee is waived if you pay property taxes to Clay County.

2023/2024 Property Tax Statements were sent out August 8, 2023

When mailing taxes, please include all stubs

We are unable to take payments by phone

Drainage & Special Assessments are due with 1st half of property taxes

Iowa Property Tax Credit Claim

The next Clay County Tax Sale will be held Monday, June 17th at 9:00 A.M.

2024 Tax Sale Information - The 2024 Clay County Tax Sale will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17th.  The Sale will be conducted at the Clay County Administration Building and bidders shall place their bids online.  Bidders need not be present at the Administration Building.
