Treasurer, Motor Vehicle and Driver License departments are currently closed to the public due to COVID-19. Tax and motor vehicle renewals may be paid online or by mail. There is currently a drop box located inside the East courthouse doors to drop off tax or motor vehicle payments or other motor vehicle documents. Please contact our departments if you need further help.
2020 Tax Sale Information - The 2020 Boone County Tax Sale will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15th. The Sale will be conducted at the Boone County Courthouse and bidders shall place their bids online. Bidders need not be present at the courthouse. 2020 Notice to Tax Sale Purchasers
If you wish to attend the sale in person, a limited number of computers will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Wireless internet access will be available for bidders using their own laptop. Please note, all bids must be placed online. Live bids will not be accepted. To obtain additional information, please email the Treasurer's Office at Lnovak@boonecounty.iowa.gov.
E-Check,(electronic funds transfer) Discover, MasterCard and Visa are accepted for Internet transactions.
Vehicle Renewals: You are not eligible to renew online unless you received a renewal notice through the US Postal Service that contains a PIN number for online renewals. Half year liscense and apportioned vehicles are not eligible for online renewal.
Property Taxes: Payments for Current and Past due taxes are now accepted on line. Payments for tax sale parcels may not be made online. If you opt to pay your property tax by eCheck, you will be asked to enter a receipt number as your PIN. Your receipt number is the last 5 digits in the sample below. This can be found in the upper right corner of your tax stub.
