ONLINE PAYMENT SERVICES

EXPERIENCE THE CONVENIENCE OF ONLINE PAYMENT SERVICES

Discover Card, MasterCard, Visa, or eCheck are accepted for Internet transactions. A Service Delivery fee will apply.

Vehicle Renewals: You are eligible to renew online if your renewal notice contains a PIN number for online renewals.  Apportioned vehicles are not eligible for online renewal at this time.

Property Tax: If you pay your property tax by eCheck, you will be required to enter a receipt number as your PIN.  Your receipt number can be found on your tax statement.

Driver License and Identification Cards: REAL ID: The implementation date for Real ID has been extended to October 1, 2021.

RENEW: You may be eligible to renew your driver license/identification card online at: https://mymvd.iowadot.gov/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2fLicenseRenewal%2fVerify

CDL RENEWAL AND CLP ISSUANCE are essential services and customers will need to appear in-person for these types of transactions. IDOT is taking appointments for CDL customers and other essential services. Call 515-244-8725 or email https://iowadot.gov/mvd to visit a service center near you.

REPLACEMENTS: IDOT has implemented some remote issuance options for customers during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
If you need any of the following services, email remote.issuance@iowadot.us

  • Address Change
  • Replacement for lost, stolen, or damaged/destroyed card
  • Remove a restriction for Work Permit, SR22, or Ignition Interlock

MINORS:
Instruction Permit Testing: Students can now take the web-based knowledge test that is required to obtain a driver's instruction permit in the comfort of their own home. A parent will be required to administer the test and the student will need an electronic device (not a phone or tablet) connected to the Internet.

To apply to take the test at home, the child must be at least 14 years old. First, the parent will need to complete and submit the Application to Proctor Knowledge Exam Form. Upon approval of the application, the parent and student will receive an email with instructions for taking and administering the test. After the test is completed, the student will receive an email with the test results and instructions.

If you need to upgrade to a Minor School License, Intermediate License, Full Privilege License, or reinstate from a suspension, for information go to:
https://iowadot.gov/mvd/driverslicense/under-18
There are separate forms that need to be submitted for these licenses. The forms will be submitted to remote.issuance@iowadot.us
If you need to pay a civil penalty to reinstate from a suspension, go to https://mymvd.iowadot.gov/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2fCivilPenalty
A member of the remote issuance team will contact the parent/minor when they are ready to process your request. Be sure to include your phone number/email address for contact information. They will contact you in 7-10 business days.

There will be a $30.00 charge for return payments. eChecks that do not "clear" whether due to lack of funds or incorrect routing or account numbers entered, will also be charged a $30.00 fee.
