TAX SALE - MONDAY, JUNE 15, 2026
Delinquent property taxes must be paid by 4:30 pm, May 28, 2026 to avoid newspaper publication.
Delinquent property taxes must be paid by 4:30 pm, June 12, 2026 to not be sold at Tax Sale.
Delinquent property taxes can be paid using the internet site thru June 11, 2026.

2025 Adjourned Tax Sale List
Click on the link above for a listing of remaining parcels available at our Adjourned Tax Sale, which will be conducted daily through our office - NOT online, until everything is sold. You must be registered to purchase. If you have not registered for the online tax sale and wish to purchase, please contact our office for further information.

Vehicle Renewals:
You are eligible to renew online if you received a renewal notice through US Postal Service that contains a PIN NUMBER. Renewals for half year license, apportioned vehicles, and specialized plates requiring annual documentation are NOT eligible for online renewal at this time. Also, if SR22 Proof of Insurance is required or you owe state or county debts, you are NOT eligible for online renewal at this time. ( This is an enhancement that will be available in the future!!)

(Enter mvpublic for both the user name and password. Click on "dealer inquiry" found in the upper left hand corner under the "tools" tab. On the left hand side, click on "weight and list price calculator" and enter the year, make and model OR the vehicle identification number (VIN) )
PAYMENT OPTIONS:
- Cash or check payments accepted in the office.
- Visa, Mastercard and Discover debit/credit cards are accepted in the office for taxes or motor vehicle payments. (fees will apply)
- Internet transactions are payable by: eCheck, Discover, MasterCard and Visa (fees will apply)
Any transaction returned for insufficient funds will be charged a fee of $30.00.
DRIVERS LICENSE
- Walk-in Policy
- Available for all services except Non-Commercial and Motorcyle drive testing, which are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. To schedule, please call 712-472-8500, option #1 for Motor Vehicle
- Served on a first-come, first-serve basis AS TIME ALLOWS. Wait times may vary.
- Drivers License knowledge testing is from 8:00-11:30am and 1:00-3:30pm
- Test your knowledge of the rules of the road for the State of Iowa. The practice tests have been created by the Iowa DOT to provide new drivers with the foundation to safely meet their responsibilities on the road and to remind all drivers of safe driving habits. I would like to welcome you to the Lyon County Treasurers’ Home Page! It is our goal to provide you with the information you need to contact us and to conveniently conduct business with this office 24 hours a day - 7 days a week. The main areas of operation for the Treasurer’s office are the collection of property taxes for all real estate, mobile homes and special assessments in Lyon County, the issuance of vehicle titles and registrations and the collection of all vehicle fees for the residents of Lyon County, the issuance and renewals of driver’s licenses, and is also responsible for financial administration, banking services, cash management and investments for the county.
